Does anyone know what these markings might be? On the back of an antique loveseat.
    Thanks!

In the future it would be great if you would post as full image instead of thumbnail. ;)

I’m new to this and having IPhone issues. Thanks for your help! I can’t even figure out how to put a laughing emoji on!!

to get to the emojis - the little smiley face slightly to the right of center in the tool bar above where you will type in the reply box.:)

Sorry, I'm having no luck with trying to figure out the letters. I.B. Youpk is what I see, but that's just silly.

Since it's armless, you might call it a divan. Originating in Persia, a divan has a tufted mattress-like seat, either directly on the ground or on a low wooden frame. Or......you could call it an armless loveseat.

My feeling is that the name is either the name of the manufacturer or the seller, probably the former. I can't make it out, either. It does look like "I.B. Youpig" or something similar. There also look to be a couple of additional words that are impossible to make out.

I'd estimate the date to be ca. 1900-1910.

Thanks for the info! The veneer is badly chipped and it needs new upholstery so I was planning on modernising it but feeling guilty about it. I don’t know anything about antiques really but I don’t suppose anyone is going to use it as is!

Looks like late Empire to me... with the dark veneer and the serpentine shapes. In as much as it is missing so much veneer... do what you must to enjoy it. I personally hate painting; but in this case - it may be the best bet. A CUTE piece none the less!
