You’re Welcome. Maybe a photo of the back would be helpful.

Would that be the initial "V" in the center? Looks hand carved.

It doesn't look exactly like oak and without a photo of the back, I cannot tell, nor can I see the hardware on the back. Kind of reminds me of the late 1950s-1960 man's project piece. The cups don't look like they'd have held liquid for long!

Depending on size, could be a wall mounted smoking stand. Cigs in the two large containers. Matches in the center. Wood is walnut.

Thanks for all the replies. I thought it might be a smoking stand but the cups are 2.75” wide by 3.75” tall—kind of tall for cigarettes. Doubt anyone would store cigars outside a humidor. I’m pretty sure the wood is black walnut. It’s in three pieces. I believe the lighter narrow center piece black walnut sap wood. The carving is not attached; it’s part of the two side pieces of the three piece stand. The approximate overall dimensions are 16”W by 20” tall.

Never seen one of these before! As Brad said, walnut wall-mounted smoking stand. I'd guess more like 1880 as a date, perhaps German?

    Hi,
I thought that Black walnut was only found in the USA. Walnut trees are all over Europe. Perhaps I am dreaming but Black Walnut is an USA thing.

We had several wall units like this that held small decorative pieces. I don't think this was for smokers items. It could possibly have been near a fireplace and one cup was for matches and one for spills. Don't know about that center bit
