Interesting......the guard and grip look a little repro...or fantasy to me....at the moment.....but to judge any sword....ya gotta look hard at the blade !

With the porosity in the guard and lack of removing casting residue on the handle,I don't know of any military allowing a substandard piece.

    a bit obscure.
but I'd research the crest. left is Serbia, right is Croatia, middle Slowenia.
    Kingdom of Yugoslavia 1920 - 1937.

Thank you for all of your time and wise inputs. Appreciate it . I'm almost positive sword belongs to grandfather since he's been in Austrian army( we're Slovenian) , found a bit of a treasure box in a hidden part of attic , with mein kampf and some bullets and letters and two swords, this one was quite mesmerising in particular , I'll try upload a little more tomorrow

Dare to guess, yugoslavian cavalry is all I would research for, but not sure since both grandfather and his brother were in army for both ww, I'm just trying to learn what I got to appreciate :angelic:

your grampa might have fought for Austria in WWI. but then it was
with a Mein Kampf you'd need to know where exactly they are from. things were VERY complicated in the border region between Kärnten and Slovenja, because in WWI they were still fighting on one side; after 1918 the old Habsburg Empire was split up into Deutsch-Österreich and the new national states. in WWII the German-speaking minorities on the Balkans - who were really former Austrians - were looked upon as Germans since 1938 and forced into Wehrmacht or Waffen-SS after 1941. so - nobody said it was easy. :inpain:

G.Gesch. would be Gesetzlich Geschützt or "design protected by law". could very well be because the head resembles different German makings like Bavaria, Hessia etc.
