  1. bug-1.jpg bug-2.jpg bug-3.jpg bug-4.jpg I recently thrifted this necklace and would love to know more about it. I can't find a mark or anything like it online. The closest artist I have found is William Spratling.

The thrift store told me it wasn't silver. It's heavy, it weighs 11.9 oz. One of the metals used seems to be copper -- it has left green on the leather in spots. Each link is unique and tapers in size from the insect to the end of the tail which hooks neatly into the bug's nose. It is brutal but very finely crafted -- there are delicate metallic swirls in the bugs eyes, for example. All the links are strung on a wide leather thong. The body of the bug appears to be a smooth but unpolished river stone.

Can anyone give me insight into the maker, age and region? Also -- would you wear this?

    Thank you!

    Fun necklace, a bit Steampunkish.

I would have thought Steampunk before Brutalist.

It looks handcrafted, OOAK. Try doing a search for Steampunk insect necklace. Not all steampunk artisans sign their work and not all of it has clock innards.

FANTASTIC! I'd wear this piece in a heartbeat. Turtleneck and palazzo. All focus on the art.
    Love it!

Nice thing, that. I’d give it a vinegar bath, rinse off and dry it well. Then I’d wear it. Often.

I'd go straight to steampunk too. It's crazy over the top, and yes Bear would wear that.

That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. Some high end artisan work here.

With the wear thinking at least several decades old. 1990's?

Is the whole thing held together by a leather strap?
