I have this very heavy (10 lb.) bronze candleholder that I would like to figure out about how old it is and who might have made it. Thanks for any information that you may have.

Please provide the height of the piece, a picture of the bottom, any marks that you have found that you can show to the others, and where it came from, if you know. The more information you provide, the more likely we can provide the information you are looking for.
    Welcome

IMG_1602 (3).JPG IMG_1599 (2).JPG Ok, the total height is 24 inches and no marks have been found . It seems well made so I am surprised there's no foundry marks.

A monstrance? A bit too neoclassical for that I suppose.

The tripod base looks like wood. If you can easily remove the mur, maybe the bottom of the metal is marked?
But only if you wouldn’t have to force anything.

What does the back look like? It looks like a strap going across the woman in the front so I wondered if she's got a quiver of arrows or something attached in the back.

I have removed the wood base before and found no identifying marks. Here's a look at the back of it.

With the new pix I see she is wearing an animal pelt like a bacchante, has a strap, as you observed, running diagonally across her torso as though she is carrying a quiver like Diana, & is holding a vessel over her head like a water bearer type figure. She's iconographically incoherent, a mashup of attributes, a fantasy of the modeler. What's that exposed screw end doing above her?

I'm not sure, I thought there might have been a spacer or something missing that went there so the screw did not stick down.
There’s still signs of gold on the piece. Originally it was probably completely gilded.
