    It looks like they are done on some kind of unusual paper

    I thought they were actors by the white face; I bought them thinking they were special because of the detail & the unusual paper?

    The white faces are masks, like this one:

    The paper is probably mulberry paper.

    they look like they've been re matted to hide acid damage.....but that didn't work so well........
