I have had these for awhile and they were inherited as gifts. I know they are ivory but I don't know what exactly they are? They are obviously very old pieces. I think the necklace is a tribal piece, a choker necklace perhaps? As for the spindle I have no idea. Any info?

I’ve owned both. The capped and linked sections were a choker. They were also made as bracelets. Mine was bought in NY in the early 70s but traders started bringing them into the US by the late 60s.

The other piece is typical of bracelets and the smaller ones were usually looped through with cord or leather and worn as a pendant.

Here’s a sectioned bracelet on Etsy:

Many thanks, do you happen to know how old the spindle bracelet is? 60s? I'm think of wrapping a cord around it now!

It may be as new as the 90s, they're still made. Indian.

Ah thanks, she's not very well known overhere.
I would abbreviate it as D.v.F. or D.F. though, too many "vans" here.;)

But she's Belgian by birth! ;)

I was just guessing, not a fashion fan.

That makes sense. There must be millions of DVs out there, counting "van" as part of the surname alone.

    I'm not.:joyful:
Sounds like a good guess though.

I just checked, because I know of the German von Fürstenberg family, and apparently she was married to one of them.

I know you're not, dear. Just surprised that a neighbor didn't get covered in the press or mags.

Now that is a Dutch name, but she isn't known here. Apparently we're not international.:hilarious:
I have heard the name before, but don't remember in what context.

You are qualified to emigrate to the Netherlands, we don't know her either. So welcome!:kiss:

Can't help but think that Mansons would have loved that reference.

I was wondering if the first piece might be a furniture caster.
