Help ID Charcoal Portrait

I'll take it out of the frame later on to check for signatures or other info but any suggestions on who the person might be?

Well, could not find a siggy and the drawing is laid over paper board so cannot check its back either.

 

I can't tell you anything about who the sitter is but . . . I did discover that "Colley Ave." is (now?) in the "Ghent (historical) District" of Norfolk, Virginia. With the affluence evident in that area of Norfolk, the sitter well could have been an esteemed citizen of that area.

I just emailed and had a super fast reply by Lewis Trimble, son of the owner of the gallery. He told me that, they did only the framing but did not sell the piece, otherwise the sticker would have been on the back of the paper and they would have been an inventory number. The gallery carried fine art but I guess they would have framed anything the customers asked them to.

it's called a bow tie.

 

Bow tie doesn't look very nice.....to me........that way.....just sayin'

Are you sure it's charcoal? It look like graphite.

99.99% of these portraits listed or described as charcoal or pencil drawings are not at all, they are solar/crayon/pencil enlargements.
