I was wondering if anyone might know who this bust is supposed to be? It is signed on the back. It looks like "dayne 87". Made out of a reddish clay or plaster material. I will upload a photo I found on etsy of one pretty similar but when I click the visit button it opens up all these other bust besides the one in the photo. I assume it was a old listing and doesn't show the information anymore. Thank you for any info.

That rough wiggly line on the bangs is exact, so yeah.

This is a really distinctive face, and if it was cast, there's a better chance of him being famous in 1987... Interesting that he looks like he's got an epicanthal fold eyelid...or very close.

Is there a chance yours and the etsy one are the same one? Where did you get it? Based on the inconclusive link, the ID of Roman statesman may not actually apply.

Roman statesman? Hard to believe, the whole vibe seems wrong. This one seems much more contemporary in face and style to me.

This is that famous Roman guy who invented hair gel, forgot his name.

For all the talk about facial recognition software, google lens is not very good at identifying portraits in paintings or sculpture.

My first impression when I saw this bust was Jim Thorpe, but he had a broader face and more chin. But it might be a bad portrait of Jim Thorpe. ;) At least the hair is right.

The "famous Roman guy who invented hair gel"? That would be Brylcreemius.

Boy, do I agree. Everyone knows that Stylus Gelantius was Harry Potter's calligraphy professor at Hogwarts and not a famous Roman.
