    Hello,

I am going through my Great Grandfathers tools for a museum donation for the Pittock Mansion, here in Portland, Oregon.

I have ran into a snag on trying to date an E. C. Atkins No. 390 saw.

My Great Grandfather purchased this saw in the mid-late 18th to early 19th century.

I need to narrow down the year of this saw; I am hoping you all can help me.

This is what I have found...

It has the classic “AAA” medallion. (1 Image Medallion) Per http://www.backsaw.net/forum/index.php?threads/e-c-atkins.838/#post-4699 “Old style AAA medallion (brass or plated); 1893-1952.”

Found 1890, 1894, and 1895 ad showing this crosscut saw, with the straight heel. (2 Image Crosscut saw)https://archive.org/details/ecatkinsco1890

Then found 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, and 1916 add with what I think matches my saw, with the rounded heel and marked No. 390. (3 Image Rounded 390)

Then found a 1917 ad and it goes back to the original straight heel, also marked as a No. 390. (4 Image 1917 Straight)

Found ad 1919, 1923, 1931, and 1932 back to the rounded heel and marked as No. 390. (5 Image 1919 Rounded)

Then found ad 1950 and 1954 and back to the original straight heel and marked as No.390. (6 Image 1950 Rounded)

Found an ad for 1959 and this No. 390 saw is no longer listed.

So experts, what year/ years would you give this saw?

Link to dropbox for all the images, of the ads and my Great Grandfathers, saw, too big to add here.
