Hello all. I am still learning about glass! Most of the glass I have picked up has been vintage so I haven't been doing too badly, but this example may prove to be modern. I liked this initially because I thought it was a black ceramic vase and then was surprised when it was glass. I was even more surprised when I got it home to find that it was actually very dark purple and not black. It is 5.4"H x 4.25"W, no markings. My queries- it has a pressed seam, does this always indicate modern (and cheap)? It has a bit of weight but not very heavy, does that mean not old? I'm guessing perhaps 80s with the draping but I have no clue. Any insight appreciated, it helps a lot! Thank you :)

A couple of search words you could try besides draped: ribbed or swirl

I'd say 1980s, that shape was very fashionable at the time.

The color is also referred to as Black Amethyst. May help in your searches,

I agree with OBB we had a tissue holder in a plastic version of yours in the 80's. Ours was pink.

Ah yes, that powder pink draped design seemed to be popular in the 80s! I sold a pink draped larger vase not that long ago-80s vibes big time :shame:

Great thanks for that! It's actually quite a pretty type of glass.
