  1. I deal in vintage and antique jewellery, not really fine gold jewellery but nice old well made pieces particularly antique glass beads and natural materials including Whitby jet, coral, amber and anything from the sea! I trade online and in one of Scotland’s largest antique centres.
I have accumulated a collection of items that I like but do not know much about so decided to join up here and ask the experts. :)

Welcome. You came to the right place for two reasons. There are knowledgeable people here but, it is always nice to gain another person with experience and knowledge. The piece you posted is exquisite but the jewelry people will want pictures of both sides and go to edit to click on full image. They will probably like to know of markings and where you acquired it. I know little myself.

Welcome, Vintiquechique. We're a fussy bunch. We want pictures full size,

taken from all sides, dimensions, anything you already know about it.

There is a good chance that this portrait miniature (love that she is herself in turn wearing a portrait miniature) is a copy of a painting of some once well known beauty. To my eye the clothing looks Georgian/Regency, but I've been watching Sanditon. We have other members with more fashion sense.

Regency, I’d agree, she’s also wearing some kind of Order.

Kinda cuspy. Hedgehog hairdo but full Empire waist. Georgian (17th c.) into Regency (18th c.). Dunno if genuine period or not. I see these marketed on internet as Grand Tour souvenirs. Here's one example (which I don't believe to be genuinely period.)

Her hair isn't powdered, so well into the Regency period methinks - 1800-1810 or thereabouts. It's a good thing that girl's painted, because her girls look like they'd fall out of her dress if she moved!

Isn't that bizarre. She has no arms. Three drops that match her necklace where her left shoulder should be, and two necklace drops where the right arm should be. I have no idea what to think about that!

I think the drop things are on top of her sleeves, or something similar.

I agree with @evelyb30. If you look at the lower right just above the frame you will see the same pink color as her dress with the same lace trim.

I think there is a blue color "pouf" at the top of the sleeve with pieces of fur & some type of bead? at the end.

Hedgehog hairdos popular in the 1780s and 1790s and balanced the more voluminous silhouette. Regency hair closer to the head in keeping with the leaner silhouette.

I agree that the two and three drops are part of the decor on her puffy sleeves. I like the pearls being worn under her collar to separate them from the pearls around her neck. The under the collar pears would be one very long set. I have never seen that style.
