Hello from West Virginia

    Hello all. Can't say I'm a collector but my wife and I have been running across many items that we have no idea on age of as we clean our my in-laws house. They kept a bit of everything, tools, WW2 items (he and his brothers were all WW2 vets), railroad stuff, etc. We are beginning to believe they never disposed of anything as we sort thru the attic and basement. So my main purpose be in search of knowledge on a variety of items from glass, to tools, to what the heck is this LOL.

    So thanks in advance for what will probably be many newbie and possibly dumb questions.

    Welcome! My Father-in-Law has been bringing tons of boxes to our house after my Mother-in-Law passed. She was a hoarder and antique collector, and never got rid of ANYTHING. It can be fun going through the stuff, because we find cool things. But it's also VERY overwhelming!

    Yes, very interesting but overwhelming.

    Thanks for the welcome.

    Not sure the railroad stuff qualifies as antiques, most of the lanterns, etc we have found are from the 20's and 30's. And the tools we have found from the 40's and 50's. Locks I have no clue on how to age.
