I was told it's brass, it's roughly 6' tall, it was purchased in New Orleans in 93, and the buyers didn't know who made it, or where it even came from! All they said is that it was unique.
It's not solid, as you can see it has the fountain workings inside, but it is EXTREMELY heavy, we had to have a forklift put it in the truck.

Christies couldn't put a value on it, does anyone know of an auction site that would be appropriate for something like this?
If anyone has any idea where it might have come from, or what it might be worth I would love to hear from you!

    Thanks!
    Enness

Welcome, enness. My completely inexpert thoughts are bronze & Italian.

    Welcome to the forum, Ennes.
    Very impressive.
Looks like bronze, and Bronwen could be on the right track with Italian. The combination of a griffin, lion head fountain, and doves would not be out of place in Italy.

First, welcome. Second, WHOA. Somebody is going to want that! That dragon on top alone will garner interest. As to who would do best selling it... not a clue. I'd say someone relatively close to the fountain with an online presence. I can see it going for silly money in California, Texas or Vegas.

Looks like something for Great Gatsby's in Atlanta. Have never dealt with them but this is right up their alley.

I was thinking that shipping something this large and heavy to an auction house might eat up whatever profit is in it.

What a beautiful piece. Find out if there are auctions in your state that would accept it.

Or the Golden Dragon, symbol of the Dutch town of Den Bosch (capital of my province):

It has a dragon fountain as well, and proudly survived WWII when everything around it was in ruins:

What an entrance to the forums! I imagine any auction will accept that, it’s your job to take it there and the buyers job to pick it up :hilarious: Go with any big quality auction house and make sure they do online bidding.

No idea on price but what price did you pay if you don’t mind me asking?

That's pretty awesome ! I would put that in my backyard "Just because" ! I have a hard enough time keeping my almost 3 year old's mud soup / pies out of my antique water pump fountain, imagine the trouble he could get into with that !
