HEAVY solid iron piece.

  1. 20220303_081819.jpg 20220303_081829.jpg 20220303_081835.jpg Can anyone tell me the age and what it was used for ? It is HEAVY. No visual marks that I can see. It looks like it may be related to a kitchen because of the scroll of fruit on top. Bought it at an antique store in Georgia.

    You should consider that this may not actually be "old." I bought a plant holder that looked old about 20 years ago that turned out to be contemporary.

    Can't say for sure without handling it, but my first impression that this was a newer piece done in an old style. The close up photo doesn't show a crispness that I'd expect from an older piece.

    It could be vintage (1990s). It has a cool look.

    It's relatively new for me too. The casting quality gives the game away. A true Victorian metalsmith would never have let that out of the workshop.
