Hi. I have this two piece mold that is marked Butt & Warren. It looks to be for making the body of a boat. It measures 13 3/4 x 6 1/4 and is 3 1/2 inches tall. It weighs about 75 pounds.

I was hoping someone could help with age and how this would have been used. Thank you. mld2.jpg mld3.jpg mld.jpg

I would say form or die rather than mold

It doesn't show any signs of being mounted in a press - maybe never actually used

The bottom of a boat is hull

Terry, don't laugh too hard but (no pun intended ;) )

I was interested in your item so I searched around and found that there is such a thing in industry as a "Butt weld" and there is a company "Warren" under the "Allied" company umbrella which does work for the petroleum industry (and other industries). Here are a couple of links.

Probably has no connection to the item you have but . . . . (again, no pun intended).

I didn't find anything "historical" about "Butt and Warren," per se.
