It measures 8" wide, 10 1/2" long, and 5" high with the handle down. I don't have a scale to weigh something this size. The square nuts are matched to their respective bolts, as the threads are slightly different on each one, which tells me that each was done by hand. There is one hex nut as a replacement (no idea when that was done).

    In my original post, I had not disassembled the piece, but this time I did. In unexposed areas, there is no indication, even in file marks, that this is plated, and there are no marks on it at all, anywhere.

    Does anyone have fresh ideas of possible age and/or country of origin?

    Has the older style square nuts, which probably suggests antique at least.

    Agree with the other comments, it's beautiful!
