    hi folks

this came as part of a local auction plate lot. most of them were target practice fodder
but thought this one looked a nice quality from the pic

definitely looks old and hand painted after receival

dont think its quite fine enough for limoges, and cant find the mark as any limoges mark

    but think french

saucer or pin dish, or miniature plate, has no recess for cup to rest

the mark has a strike though it by the look of it, so a second ?

any help with possible maker or period would be great

I very much doubt that it's Sevres, but the blue is a tint that Sevres (and many others) used. It's called "bleu celeste". The image looks like a decal.

I have no idea but the site showing the marks lists most of the s with number in oval as whiteware so I'm wondering if they are blanks to be decorated elsewhere.

But I'm just thinking out loud so to speak.

Interesting thanks mate, I don't think the quality of that one is to dissimilar to mine, even though the gilding has perished a bit

the blokes head looks a bit freakish though :)

At 5 1/2 inches what would you think it's function was

A saucer wouldn't have the decoration in the middle would it ?

Perhaps a plate for a slice of cake or some dessert?
