Hand painted floral vase cross arrows mark correction European or Japanese

    Hi, this vase is 5 1/4" x 5 1/2" The marks on the item were partially rubbed out, the arrows were left Why!

    I have seen the mark on some Japanese items but I believe its origin is in Europe. Thanks say_it_slowly

    I'd probably call it more of a cup or stem cup or small bowl with a foot. It might have a more proper name/description, if it does I'm sure someone more informed than myself will chime in.

    Hi,
    It was to hold soft boiled or coddled eggs. Not to hold the egg shell so you could eat the soft egg out of it. My Danish friends liked 4 minute eggs in the shell. I had these larger cups for soft boiled eggs, usually two. My Danes bought me glass smaller ones to hold the egg shell.
