Can you post a pic of the entire chair? Your pics are too large to see what the whole chair looks like. Could be anywhere from 50's to 80', From the cracks in the chairs it looks like out door weathered chairs that someone painted to make them worth more than just firewood.
When you post a pic click the FULL SIZE tab, it will post your pic in an easier to look at photo in your post!!

I have a similar one , not painted.
    I believe it's known as a Mates Chair .
Mine is likely a repro from the late 70's when it was bought....yours looks earlier...but maybe not by much.
    The painting is very nice.

BTW , Rayo is asking to post a full size pic here , not just the thumbnail......it's just a click away.

PS. Why would you think we would insult you ?

See? just a typical common "Mates chair" that was in bad shape and painted to make look better!! I've taken horrible looking out side benches and with Krylon and some artistic expressions I've created nice out door furniture!! And if you consider that insulting then block me!!

Huh? Can't find this members profile - anyone think SPAMMER or ROBOT that got through?? Hence the negative terminology to keep us posting?

I'd call it a Firehouse Windsor chair. May depend on the area of the country what one calls it.

Ray, I get an error message when trying to pull up his profile also. Well, that is not really unusual for me for sometimes get error messages when trying to pull the profiles of long standing members. I have *never* been able to pull up Fig's profile. I need to elborate on the error message I get when trying to pull up Fig's profile and a few others like the original poster of this thread. Message seems to insinuate they have locked their profile. Here's the message:

    "Antiques Board - Error
This member limits who may view their full profile."

Hmmm... with word "who" may mean I have been black balled. :( Wellll, I do know one member of long standing dating back to eBay days who I really like and highly respect her knowledge has set up a lock denying any communication with me. This really surprises me for have never had a disagreement with her, and believe we only have had 1 private communication that was initiated by her years ago. I guess you never know whose feathers you might have ruffled.

It says Board Error this member limits who can view their profile - or something to that effect.

Still here as you can start a conversation with them if you so choose.

As for the chair, I've always known this as a Captain's Chair.

    & that's always confused me...
I thought the mates chair had no arm rests....

And the Captains chair had arm rests and a higher back rest...

But I've know the low back ...with arms to also be a mates chair....

    And then there's this.....

    Captain... & Mate's chairs....

    So.....Maybe I've got a Captains chair........Sheesh !!!!!:inpain::inpain::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

I'd call it a Captain's chair because it has arms. These type of painted chairs are sold in high end décorator shops around the coast, so I'm not sure it's very old or very rare, although it is well painted.

I get the usual member profile display for the OP. As I did earlier.

I'd suggest you chalk it up to an unfortunate interaction and move on. ;)
