Hi, I got this hamms beer print from a local thrift shop a few days ago. Unfortunately after awhile of searching online i could not find this print. On the bottom right it reads "from the hamms 1865 collection". I was wondering if anyone could help me id this print? Thank you for any info!
Yes i did come across that. Do you think mine is an ad? I didnt think it was but when i saw that i wasnt for sure now.
It may not have appeared in an ad, but I think it's from the same era, yes. Maybe a promotional item for resellers? Someone just mentioned this sort of thing in a recent thread. I can't recall the official lingo, maybe someone else will. I just know that when I owned a business with a bar, sales people were always trying to up my orders by tempting me with promotional items. I refused to sell myself for anything less than neon.
I think late 60s early 70s is reasonable. Or someone did a later piece based on the aforementioned ad campaign. If I really really wanted to know, I'd take it out of the frame and see if there is anything under that mat.
Probably a trade incentive tied into the "Then Came Hamm's" ad campaign. Date would be same. 1970, according to this. http://www2.mnhs.org/library/findaids/01221.xml Debora
