I opened a trunk a few days ago that had been stored since about 2005, an' among many other delights re-discovered this sweet piece of brass. I wanna say it's embossed, but that's probably the opposite of the process that resulted in the deeply impressed pattern on its face; I don'y really know what to call it. The pattern is very crisply defined including the edge. which has been finely beaded. The back side, at the curve between the floor an' the rim, shows tool marks that strongly suggest that the 'flare' was formed by spinning. It's 5 1/8" diameter, ~1/2" high at the rim; it weighs ~3 ounces.

The 'hallmark' seems to be of a dog with an overarching tail; the tiny cartouche is ~0.120" x ~0.150". I'm hopeful that some of you will be familiar with the pattern, and/or the mark...What have I got here?

It's a keeper for me; these kind of things rarely bring enough to pay the fees on the eBay listing...an' I like it a lot!

Over the next couple weeks I'll share a few more of the long-buried goodies I've exposed from within that trunk. Thanks for lookin'!

    Beautiful, an' with colors...Thanks!
I believe I found that the mark on mine was 19th C...the six in your link state they're from the 1950's, with the same mark.
I'm a little confused, but no matter...I'm pleased to have it, no matter when it was made.
