I think this is a crown above 925 sterling earring

It looks like a maker's mark to me, not a hallmark. A hallmark is an offical stamp for precious metal, punched by an assayer after the metal has been tested. Not every country has a hallmarking system.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I think sometimes the image is SO LARGE, it starts to pixelate what we're trying to identify, i.e. in this case the marks and what it says....I took a screen shot from the original image, which kept the marks the same size without enlarging, and tried to work it from that.....still hard to get a clear image, but I think 'AJ' is most likely 'on the money' in her statement......wondering if that could be a leaf instead of a crown, but that's just a guess....and I think 'STERLING' is a bit clearer.....also '925'
