Half Columns style ?

Description that suits these best & likely age ? Hand carved mahogany (bleached out), 32 inches tall, said to be off a 19th cent. chest of drawers.

 

An applied column split down the middle vertically is typically called a pilaster. These have some classical design elements with the acanthus leaves. I can't place the origin exactly, they look heavily Mediterranean.

 

A photograph of their backs would be helpful.
