    Hello,
I have spent a lot of time trying to find information on this book And have come up fruitless. If anybody could help me that would be great.
I acquired it about seven years ago from a girlfriend and she knew nothing about it either.
I know it's on horrible shape so it's pretty much worthless.
    Thank you!

Hi, Derrick, and welcome to Antiquers. It would help to have a picture of the title page and any copyright page if there is one. Otherwise, all we would be able to research would be the illustration on the cover. There are probably hundreds of editions of Grimm's Fairy Tales, and we would need a starting point for research. Date of publication would help.

    Thanks!

I found that the McLoughlin Bros. version was issued in a variety of covers and probably reprinted through the years. So it's hard to find out very much about it. Based on information in the link that Debora provided, I think it might have been published before 1920, even though it was given to the little girl in 1932.

I've heard of McLoughlin Brothers before and know that the illustrations in their books were the biggest draw. One of the artists whose illustrations they used, P. Grot Johann, apparently died in 1892: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philipp_Grot_Johann

The other artist, R. Andre, apparently was actually named William Roger Snow, and he died in 1907. Here is an interesting blog post from Yale's library about him: http://beinecke.library.yale.edu/about/blogs/research-files/2015/09/08/andré

It's possible that McLoughlin used earlier illustrations by Johann, since according to this, his illustrations were in early editions:
