Great Grandmothers scissors

    Hi everyone!
    I've just handed off a pair of scissors to my sister for her birthday. It goes with this photo. Clearly they are the same scissors! The photo was taken our Great Great Great Grandfather's garden in Darite, Cornwall England...

    What can anyone tell us about the scissors? Date, origin?

    'Garantirt' sounds like 'Guarantied' in some language I don't read.

    Just one question -- are they "regular" scissors? I ask because I see the word "PYK"? By any chance are they "pinking" shears?

    I don't see the broken top.
    The thumb and finger holes seem to be different sizes in this pair. Also the screw is different. upload_2020-9-12_17-34-19.png

    No they aren't pinking shears... AND LOL... believe it or not... they ARE the same pair of scissors... the hex nut is on one side and the other side is the screw side. AND yes, it is truly an optical illusion re: the size of the thumb and finger holes... on one side they look quite different and the other side looks much more similar! Yes, I do believe that the end was broken off at some point and ground down ... I'm 99.9% certain that they are the same scissors as in the photo. The scissors had been in my Great Grand's sewing basket... which; really hadn't been touched since she passed back in the 30's. It upset my Grandmother too much to look in it... and she forbade my mother to look in it... The things you learn by really - i mean REALLY scrutinizing something! I never noticed the optical illusion holes... I really only wondered about the maker...oh, and the side with the screw... has a tiny engraving of a star with a tail! I just noticed!
