Gothic revival chapel chair

Hello everyone I saw this interesting looking chair which seems it was definitely in a church, at my local charity shop and wondering how old it might be? We don't usually get antiques here.

 

I would say its not Gothic Revival, since it lacks gothic arches of any sort. I'd agree that it feels ecclesiastical with that quatrefoil, combined with a Renaissance Revival crest. The chair may well have come from a church. Oak, ca. 1910.

 

I was thinking a little earlier, but not much and with a)oak and b) something made for a church it's hard to nail it down firmly. Ecclesiastical styles move a lot more slowly and sometimes strangely.

 

Apologies as it is probably too hard to see but it also has the christogram on the quatrefoil: I.H.S. may have to pick this one up. Thanks for the help as always everyone.

I figured that's what it was, or something similar. I'm betting this was used for a long time, or at least in the building for a long time, before being donated.

 

As mentioned above, the design treatment on your chair is very mild for the Gothic Revival era, 1840s-90s. Many of the earlier pieces were walnut & quite intricate.
