Hello everyone. Haven't shared anything in a while but I picked this pair of chairs up recently but needed help dating it. Upholstery is modern but I hope to put some antique fabric to good use soon. It does still contain horse hair and cotton. They also have red, wood castors with newer Philips screws. Was assuming those weren't original as both had some work done to them. Thanks for the help!

Would think 1870, give or take. If these came from a church, they could be significantly later.

Many thanks! I'm safely assuming this was oak too. I also added a picture of the back of the chair.

LOL on the one at first dibs.....

"Carved wood, well detailed frame, solid, sturdy, circa 19th C. Made in England."

That is a lot of leeway in the dating. Hope you undestand that their pricing/value is also suspect.

Haha absolutely 1st dibs can be sketchy. Things frequently go for less than half the asking price there. That said value isn't very important to me. I was just hoping this wasn't a modern piece. I figured personally it was late Victorian-Edwardian but I wanted more opinions from those more experienced than me :)

I'm certainly no expert, but the shape looks like 19th century Britain
