Wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the age of this lamp. base is cast iron, cord has been replaced, and switch reads Arrow.
It is is good working condition, But someone in the past has painted the whole thing green.

    The base looks Art Nouveau.

I didn't think that early but I just found out the first patent for gooseneck lamps was 1889.

A plus is, it looks to have the original switch and the shade appears to be brass, not brass plated steel. If a magnet does not stick. . it's solid brass. There also be a patent date on the switch housing under the paint.

Yes the shade is brass, but no patent date on the switch. Just the name Arrow

Thanks Pat. But the green was put on at a later date, Plus the fact that they painted everything including the switch. I don't know what color it was originally. Kind of sad really. i am almost tempted to do a total restore on it.

This lamp base pops up quite often. Probably made the same way for a lot of years. That switch dates this to the early 20th century. I would think a circa 1920 date would be about right. Could have been made a bit earlier or later.

Thanks for your information Brad. I think ill just clean the paint off the shade and switch and leave the rest green. it will look much better that way.

Always take ebay listings with a grain of salt. No one polices the listings, I can list my 2 year old vase as antique and probably would get away with it. My sister received a piece of pink glass someone bought for her on eBay as Depression Glass, the bottom was marked "Made in Indonesia". So not Depression Glass!!!!!

Thank you Marie. I do know a little about ebay lol. I was just using that listing to show it was the same lamp. I always let the buyer decide what it's worth. if i make a little or a lot depends mostly on them. When i first bought the lamp i was thinking 1920's with replaced cord. And after posting on here and hearing from both Pat and Brad who definitely know their stuff when it comes to things like this. i came to the conclusion somewhere in between both of their answers. Ca 1925 or thereabouts
