Good afternoon everyone! I hope you all are doing well.

I just got this necklace and was told this was a Japanese piece, but if I’m not sure about something I always feel comfortable and trust coming to you guys for your opinions and or expertise. I would also like to know the age if possible. I was thinking the 20’s, 30’s or do you think it is newer. Thank you so much in advance for your responses and for looking. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay safe.

Ooh, that’s lovely! Are the large gems green or black? I wonder if the clasp was reused?

A lot of mid century Japanese jewelry is marked "Silver", but this doesn't really look Japanese to me. IDK, someone more knowledgeable will be along.

Very pretty, no matter who made it!

Edit: as KSW remarked, I too was wondering if the clasp was reused.

Did you test the silver at all? The setting kind of reminds me of some Indian jewelry I've gotten that claims to be silver but is only silverplate.

It was tested twice and it is sterling silver, it was red.

The clasp and hook don't match the color of the chain. I'd bet they were added when the original broke and maybe the other necklace was broken too. The clasp also looks a good 50 years older than the rest of the necklace.

You could be right, but I did give the clasp a good cleaning. I didn't clean the chain because to me I was afraid to break it. Thank you evelyb30
