Is this one of those brass gold weights from Africa? or is it something else entirely?
Shoot - I forgot to show the bottom (and my camera battery is charging ... I can add a pic. of the underside if necessary, a bit later) - it is hollow with a nice smooth rim around the bottom.

Does anyone know that this animal is? It appears to have three heads ... one on one end and two (stacked) on the other!

Not any African gold weight I've ever seen....& they are never hollow.

& I don't recognize the creatures as being from anywhere !!

    It's a mystery to me.....

This reminds me of something from the Mayans or Incans or somewhere in South/Central America. I have no basis for this, of course. Heck, it could be from Philly just as easy as being from Bali.

Thanks Komokwa ... I knew you would know if it wasn't one. Sometimes, knowing what an item isn't, is pretty helpful.

Yes yes yes ..... Thank you Vitry!!! Searching Pre-Colombian pendant or amulet has help me find some cousins to this little guy! Also pointed me to other search terms "Tairona" and "Tumbaga". May not be brass at all ... but a copper (mostly) and gold alloy.

Here's his underside, by the way

Your item is most likely a copy of a Pre-Columbian gold pendant. Those holes at feet is where it was suspended from a cord. Test for gold any way, but mostly likely brass/copper/bronze, etc.

The problem with knowing what something isn't ( which is helpful..) is ya can't just say it.....ya gotta back it up!

Yes, I could snap photos if I had a smart phone. There is a mix of all sorts of stuff in this house! Oddest thing I purchased yesterday was a Mongolian lamb hide ...
