    Nice looking.

I think they are on the new side.
Not a heart, maybe a lotus leaf or something similar

As a keen amateur cardio-thoracic surgeon, I can testify that no organ I have worked on has been remotely that shaped.

I'm not going to tell you what the traditional 'heart' symbol is based on, but it's nothing to do with the heart :)

To me, they look like a part of something else. Like maybe a black metal holder that these would slide into and become vases. The base is too narrow to be a tumbler or a stand alone vase. I don't have any idea of what they may have been part of originally. Just an idea . . .

Ginko leaf maybe. For serving Ginko tea?

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Believe it or not, they are well balanced though it doesn't look like they would be. I filled one and used it,I do think its a drinking glass. That's why I picked them up,just for a learning thing. Plus, they are funky !
I never heard that before AF,who knew ?!? LOL !

many historical types also link the advent of the 'heart' symbol to the silphium seed pod which was used on ancient Greek coins. Turns out silphium concoctions were likely the first morning-after prescription.
