Hi, I have just been donated this Vase, it is very light, thin glass which is coated rather than colored, there is just something really nice about it,

Has anyone seen one similar or have any ideas about it,

    It is apx 10" tall SAM_8281.JPG SAM_8284 (Small).JPG SAM_8281.JPG SAM_8284 (Small).JPG SAM_8283 (Small).JPG

It's probably Bohemian, could be as early as the 20s or as late as the 50s, but I think slightly pre war. It is what's called cranberry flashed glass cut to clear. Try fifteen quid on it, go down to a tenner if it doesn't sell quickly. The shape is sometimes called a celery glass.

I'm sorry, but I respectfully disagree with Owned about the date.
I believe this is a more current item.
I could be wrong, wait for other opinions.

I agree with the cranberry flashed glass cut to clear.

Hey, feel free! :) Why are you thinking more recent, as a matter of interest?

    Light weight.
Round ball in stem. Shape of vase.
Seems like I see this in the thrifts too often for it to be old.

I've seen old ones that light and that shape - and there's a fair bit of wear. I don't think it would change my view on the value. ;)

I forgot. On the shape, vases and drinking vessels with that round knop, flared bowl and foot are very characteristic of mid 19th C stuff. Not that this is that.
