Can anyone tell me what is the correct term for the applied small discs of glass on the sides and lid of this jar? I was thinking along the lines of punty / rosette / florette, but then started to doubt myself.

    Thanks!

Just to clarify - this is an oddity I saw at a local antique mall, and thought I might try to figure out who might have made it.

This is about 10" high overall, with a shape similar to what is commonly called a ginger jar. I apologize - I was only able to get one pic. The finial on top of the lid is a 3-layer applied punty (?) which resembles a flower, and it has a pontil on the bottom (but neither of those pics came out, unfortunately).

I was wondering if it could be early Blenko, but I don't have the Blenko 1930-1953 book. If someone can confirm what the applied pieces are most likely called, I'll keep searching with the proper term.

Bob got it. Prunt(s) is the correct term.

    Prunts!

Thank you - I had a feeling punty wasn't right.

Punty is the rod used to hold the glass.

I was looking at these definitions, and got really confused when I didn't see "punty" where it should be on the list. If only I had scrolled up a little bit - I'd have seen both "prunt" and "pontil", which includes the explanation about the punty rod.

    Thanks to you both!

No -- punty is what one floats down the Thames in.
