Any ideas as to maker or age? I haven't found it yet...and with this small opening would it be called a compote? Or did it have a lid?
    3 1/4"opening, 7" wide and a 4 1/4" base.
    Thanks for looking :)

I may be in error, but I believe this is one of those Mid Century (20th) Italian mainland imports. Who knows what the manufacturer called it, and, it may have had a lid. So, it would have been a covered something.

    I agree with Tom.
    1960s - 70s covered candy.
    Most likely Italian.
However a few of the WV companies made a few things like this. But without the lid, probably not worth the time to investigate further.

The West Virginia Companies (Weston, West Va Glass Spec, etc) made only clear glass after the first of WWII.

    I didn't know that.
Does that include Viking, Blenko, and some of the others? Or are they in a different state, and I've mixed things up again?

Pat's correct, the lid is missing. I have a large red piece like this in my basement. Been there for about 3 years waiting on me maybe finding a lid. I should get rid of it. This also may have been one of those that had a second section and then a lid, that would make it look like a Christmas tree. Kind of like this.

Still missing parts, so not worth much.

No, I simplified some of it. The companies that made that type of ware, Louie, West Va. Glass Spec., etc. only made crystal after the war, Viking, Blenko, Pilgrim, and Rainbow and the other Teays Valley glass houses, made colors forever, but they didn't make this type of wares.
