Here are more photos of the old glass bangle that I found in the $1 bargain bin at a thrift shop.
    I.D. is 2¼" (5.6 cm)
At first I thought that it might have been from the top of one of those Chinese sewing baskets, but I have yet to see one with raised applied glass decorations ... plus it's a bit large for these.
Could maybe get it over my left hand if I forced it (and oiled myself up ... and avoided any salt or fluids for days ) ... but when searching for others, I'm finding some that are really, REALLY old ... I don't want to risk breaking it if it's something more than a novelty piece.
It is decorated with little flowers made with red and yellow raised glass dots, raised white glass elongated ovals, and patterns pressed into the surface.
I have not washed this, which is probably obvious. In some areas, there is the 'sheen' one sees on glass bottles that have been buried in dirt for a while ... not sure it shows up well in the photos, though.
Anyone familiar with glass jewelry like this?
I'm wondering if it's just kinda old or could it be really REALLY (centuries) old?

Thanks for looking for something similar, AJ :)
I hadn't seen those exact ones, but ran across these on Etsy
and this old listing on eBay ... plus some others ... but all the decorations seemed "painted on" like one would do with enamel, where mine looked more like applied glass dots or lampwork decoration.

When I searched for old glass bangles with applied dots ... I came across these ...[IMG]
and this blue one from here

or even these, from this blog

    Which are all quite ancient.

Obviously, mine isn't that old ... The glass is too clear and uniform ... but the method of decoration resembles those more than the enameled ones. ... so I've been searching to try and find something newer than the ancient examples ... but decorated in a similar fashion.

The ones on Etsy look very much like Indian trade bangles that were exported to Yemen. No doubt worn in India as well. They have the same flat outside (don't know what to call it) and slightly irregular, cut sides.
European, Middle Eastern and Chinese glass bangles that I've seen have a rounded outside, like yours.
I get a mid 19th century European vibe from your bangle, but no proof whatsoever.

I remember seeing these in the late 60s early 70s in shops that sold incense, hash pipes, etc. I don't know how old they were.

Hmmmm ... the head shop I went to in the mid to late 70's was mainly a used record store (also the reason I went there). They may have had jewelry, but I was too nervous about being so close to contraband material to look at anything other than the LPs and the guy at the counter ...

The dots do remind me of the designs on what was sold as old trade beads during the beading craze of the late 80's. I remember thinking they were expensive at the time and could never justify spending so much on a single bead.
