These are called Cinderellas, or poster stamps. They are not postage stamps and have no stated denomination. These are not in good condition. All were heavily hinged and 2 have damage (called thins) to the back in addition to the hinge traces, but they are interesting enough.

If you collect stamps, you can buy better for cheap. These were issued in 4 colors, so there's no complete set here.

Made in 1947 for a philatelic exhibition, they are the old engraved style. They commemorate the centennial of the first U.S. stamps and the countries that produced stamps before the U.S. Shown on the stamps are Dom Pedro of Brazil, Queen Victoria, and James K. Polk, the leaders of their respective countries when their first stamps were released: Britain 1840, Brazil 1843, United States 1847. Below Victoria are the arms of Switzerland, which had its first stamps in 1843 though they were issued by various Cantons, not by their federal government.

If more than one person is interested, I'll divvy them up somehow.

I'll wrap this up Friday evening around 9:00pm eastern time.

They're cool, but I'm not sure what I'd do with them if I had them.

    Hi Evelyb,
I have been glued to the TV. Need something to help replace Downton Abbey. The Wives of Henry Vlll just is not doing it for me. I have been watching Victoria but only three hours in two weeks is not enough.

Loved Victoria, Its finished here now, Watched the six wives of Henry V111 too.
    Anything historical floats my boat.

Wolf Hall was wonderful, If it shows there give it a watch.

I TRIED to watch Wolf Hall - but their much touted "filming in natural and candle light" production left me totally in the dark (pun intended). The bits I could make out seemed good, the acting was fine, and fortunately I was familiar with the history. If I hadn't been it would have been a total waste of my time.............................sad face, sad face, sad face...............................

I didn't really notice that and enjoyed it.....I enjoyed The Tudors too, Did you watch that?

Not always historically correct but a good romp.

Missed The Tudors.................my TV reception is spotty at best, non-existent at worst. I have to depend on one of those converter boxes and a small indoor antennae. I sometimes go weeks with no reception, and then suddenly I can receive three Public Broadcasting Stations and the local ABC affiliate. Almost never much more than that....................quite a bore when you are housebound and only have 1,000 books - which you have read to tatters!

books! that reminds me of a question I wanted to ask.....off to take photos....................

There is a boxed set out there to buy.....I keep thinking I will buy it and watch it again.

The torture and burning of noblewoman Anne Askew sticks in my mind.....A brave woman! I read up on her.

Thank God for Youtube. I watched one older video on Thames mudlarking recently, and of course have been watching Bargain Hunt and the Antiques Road Trip on a regular basis. The Beeb seems to be putting them out there for those of us outside of the UK.

We see the "experts" from Bargain Hunt all the time at fairs here and know some of them, Also some from other similar antiques programs :)

It does make me wonder how much of the on air personality is for the cameras and how much is real. I also wonder how someone who really did know something about antiques would fare on the show.

Well I do know for a fact that when they hand the contestants the money at the beginning the contestants then hand it to someone else, They are surrounded by people who the TV audience can't see as well, They also plant stuff on stalls for them to "find".

I can't say I'm too surprised about the last one. On the other hand, for planted stuff they always seem to manage to lose a fair bit of money. The staff off camera are a given. I have the distinct feeling most of us would do a better job, even without salted items.
