Hi there, just wanted to know if writing like this adds any sort of value, or even devalues a piece like this. I doubt there are any names of significance here... I'm assuming this was something common to the time period, when giving a gift? I can make out ' my life daughter' which I found to be an interesting figure of speech. Apologies, I know it's hard to make out, it's not much easier in person. Thanks, be well IMG_20210317_145149.jpg IMG_20210317_165737.jpg IMG_20210317_165745.jpg IMG_20210317_165745 (2).jpg

I don't think the word before daughter is "life" but rather "his."

Yep, I see 'by his daughter' there. First bit is From ____House, I think. Provenance is usually an asset.

The tape and ink look later than 1872; I think someone added this later so their grandkids would know where they came from.
