Would it be possible to get more information about this GI?

Would this be a wanted item in the US?

    Brand? watch1.png watch2.png watch3.png

    Thanks.

I've seen a lot worse and this is it for now. Those aren't my pictures but from somebody who has put the item up for sale.

    I can identify:
    DENIS MC KEExx
xx might be one x, not sure.

    Number:
    1603371x
x is an a? Not sure.

A see no way to identify the make of the watch. If afantiques can't tell anything from the pics I can't imagine anyone else will be able to. The only thing I am sure of is that the watch is not of American origin.

I'm more interested in identifying the owner of the watch who "lost" it in the Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge) region. The maker of the watch is a plus but secondary.

I can't help with the owner. I am extremely curious about the maker myself even if you aren't. It isn't what I would have expected an American to be carrying there which makes me wonder if it is something special. IMHO the type of watch is the most important thing and the interest added by the military business is just icing on the cake.

Thanks for the information. Just one question: why on earth would he misspell his own name??

would be easier to spell your own name wrong, when doing it in that style, not in a fluid motion

Keep an open mind about this, it could be a crude forgery. Strange that exactly same image is on web and in the watch. The 7 in his service number is written in European format and first name spelled as maybe a Frenchman would misspell it. Very suspicious. What GI would carry a cheap dandy watch like that? If he put a photo in his watch it’d most likely be of his girl and not of himself. What is the provenance of the item?

It looks like- 20VA, is stamped on watch by winding knob. Don’t know if that indicates anything, just pointing it out.

    Looks like 20 1/2

The 1’s in the service number also look a bit like European format.

I’d still be interested in the provenance.

tranger things have happened . Looks quite authentic . I myself have a British table medal owned by an American Methodist Minister. He was one of the survivors of the Siege of Peking during the Boxer Rebellion in China , 1900. He was a Missionary in china from 1875 till he died in 1926. He has family all over when I looked on Ancestery.com

The guy who is offering it isn't a regular seller. His account is from last year and he has about a dozen things for sale, most of them militaria (German and US). Nothing is of really great value. He points out that the cover is broken. Indicates that a number and name are visible.

I'm going to mail him to ask if there is more information somewhere on the watch and a price indication. He said the pocket watch comes from village x, which is about 30 km (18 miles) away from the place where MC Keen was last seen. That is a bit odd and not many do that but he does it also for a few other US items. All locations are near the Battle of the Bulge town Bastogne. He himself lives about 20 km away from Bastogne (if he is honest about his location) in another town.
