Hi, picked this up at an op shop recently and no idea whether it's old or not - looks brand new.
It has some markings to the base partly obscured by a price sticker which is either foreign or old - didn't want to remove it in case that detracts - what are people's thoughts on that?
Someone did post a link on someone's thread about a stein, but it didn't take me anywhere.
I have googled German stoneware but may be barking up the wrong tree.
Thanks in advance for anything anyone can share.

That's fabulous, thank you so much for that. So could be anywhere from 1879 to 1964 by the looks!

I see a 7 which would normally indicate that it's the 7th edition or re-edition of this model in these colors.
the hole in the handle is provionally made in all models with a certain weight to minimize the danger of damage in the kiln and depending on what fluid - water, wine, cider - it is used for serves as position of the thorn of the lid.
most that are used for cider have no lid and are called Bembel in Hessian.

Thank you so much for that information. I'm wondering whether or not to take the sticker off to see if there is anything more underneath.

leave as is, please. doesn't hide anything important.
it shows that it was bought in Austria in the sports/skiing/tourist resort in Steinach (Tirol).
