German Paper Maché Easter Eggs

Can anyone give me an estimation on what each of these eggs are worth? I am selling in order to raise money for my aunt's funeral service and these were hers. all stamped Germany

These were candy containers c.1900. This is the sold ones on ebay recently.

Yes I've done a bit of research and searched eBay. but the prices vary depending on the egg and I have not been able to find these specific ones. Hoping to find someone who has and can give me and estimate. thank you so much for your reply.

 

It's unlikely you'll find the "specific ones" as a classical German children's item and one that's still being made today. Not to be facetious, they're worth what someone will pay for them. As you now have a date estimate (c. 1900,) I suggest you do an advanced eBay search for sold listings to see what others from the same era went for. You have two types, animals (chicks and swans) and figural (children) and they appear to be in excellent condition. With that in mind, you should be able to come up with an estimate. (At a quick glance, it appears to be in the $25-$50 range.)

Your reply definitely helps, Debora. thanks so much!!! I should've been more specific because I know the date is around 1911 as any the eggs stamped Germany and not west Germany are likely from 1911. I had six other eggs that I actually found each specific one. I was just hoping to find someone that may have encountered these specific ones for a more narrowed down price point.

 

I have done so. Typically similar ones are around $50. I was just trying to find more information on these specific eggs to narrow down the price point.

 

It doesn't matter what the final "price point" is. And 9 eggs will have different values anyway as some will be of greater interest to collectors than others. (The egg with swan graphics may appeal to swan collectors, for instance.) I'm assuming you'll be listing individually on eBay as an auction. If so, just give them an opening bid that is the minimum you'd accept and see what happens. You can't control results (except through clear photographs, a complete description, and good seller feedback.) And, by way, unlikely they're all from just one year, 1911. I think you mean pre-1911 when import laws changed.

That's definitely a great idea concerning posting them on ebay with a minimum bid that I would accept. Thanks so much, silly me didn't even think of that. Yes I did mean pre 1911 thank you for clarifying that as I know they most definitely all can't be from the same year. So you think eBay would be my best option in selling them?

 

That's my preference when I sell but others may have a different opinion.

You can go back to edit and lose the duplicate photos if you wish.

 

I'm curious what 1911 would have to do with Germany versus West Germany. West Germany didn't exist until after WWII.

 

Please be advised that these are still being made. I got a couple in Switzerland a number of years ago and they were new, but made exactly like the older ones. If these are old, they are in remarkably good condition. The paper shows no aging at all.

I've seen brand-new ones in the "antique" shows; they look almost exactly like the ones my Mom had from the 1950s. Makes it harder to pin down the date.....

 

Heck, even reproductions are reproduced now.

 

I have several, myself - all purchased when my kids were little (1980's-early 1990's)

Is there any way to tell the age of these? (Wasn't the GERMANY stamp used "again" after the wall came down?)
