Picked up this interesting plate in a group lot. Stylistically and the way it's painted along with the reticulations and rim details looks right for KPM. But something just feels a bit off. The sceptre mark is odd at best. It doesn't have the feel of the age it would purport to be if right, there is a tiny bit of stacking wear but not much else, it's almost as if it is too right. I would have expected to easily find matching late 19th/early 20th knock offs to identify it, but can't really turn anything up which is what's bugging me, nothing stylistically similar and no matching hooky sceptre marks. Thoughts?

It looks like a KPM mark, but I don't know if it's legitimate. It's a nice plate so... possibly.

Thanks, do you not think the way the mark is drawn is unusual? If period it is going to be one of the late 18th or early 19th marks.

It's a much imitated mark, so it might not be, but it's also a hand drawn mark, so there are thousands of variations. The mark looks to be under glaze, which is marginally encouraging, and it does look well made.

Hmm, found the same plate form, but no pic of the back and mark, dang.

and another, this one marked though. Mark different, but plate form the same, and the painting style (brushwork) very similar.

Hmm, and another, perhaps why I couldn't find repro's, should had searched for the real thing.

And this one, modified border but stylistically the painting is very similar.

So maybe it is ok, just in very good condition. If so my £12.40 spent on the mixed box is looking like the bargain of the month.

An update for anyone watching, sent some hi res pics to an old contact. She thinks it is an original late Georgian piece, and as @moreotherstuff mentioned the marks are often shaky at this period. So looks like a win.
