I thought I would post my latest project ...
You can see with the first photos what a mess it was, the lid came off and everything inside the box was missing except for 3 side pieces and the leather in the lid.
The side handles had lost their rings and one was damaged ....

    I really enjoyed making this one beautiful again. IMG_0223.jpeg IMG_0224.jpeg IMG_0225 2.jpeg IMG_0226.jpeg IMG_0229.jpeg IMG_0236.jpeg IMG_0237.jpeg IMG_0238.jpeg

That's lovely. Is that a "wallet" in the top? What is it made of? How did you clean it up?

    Thank you....
I love that blue too, I know it's a Regency/Georgian colour because I had it matched for another box :)

Yes it's a kind of wallet, ladies could put letters or needlework items etc in it ....
It's made of leather the same as the outside of the box, I used leather dye on the outside as it was originally black but had faded, then I use black shoe polish to give it all a shine and feed the leather, including the "wallet", it had a split, I just glued that back together :)

The colour is spot on. It used to be thought that Georgian colours were muted, until some house paint archaeology debunked that. They loved bright.
