    Hi all,

This seems like a Georgian plate with the visual of a Mosque. However the layer os several areas have seemed to have worn off. Any further info will be much appreciated.
No stamp or signatures on the base.

    Gorgeous blue tho!!

    Outer Circle: 21.8 cm
    Inner circle: 16cm
    Depth: 3cm

    Thank you

That needs one heck of a peroxide bath. Mid 19th C Staffordshire transfer ware. Not much value, sadly.

Yep. It has an Indian scene on it, but that poor thing's been through the wringer. It would be a great piece to play with hydrogen peroxide on though.

Georgia and a mosque ??? Georgia is one of the longest Christanized countries in that corner of the world. so certainly not typical.

@Ownedbybear thank you for that, never owned plates as such and the immediate research suggested Georgian plates.

@evelyb30 @clutteredcloset49 thanks guys, will look into it!

@Fid something of a quick conclusion as it came in just yesterday. I wouldn't know. that's why communities like these are really helpful.

There was a bit of a thing for putting "exotic" scenes on plates. India was part of the empire, for one thing, but the Victorians loved the wild and wonderful. Sometimes, there's some artistic licence with the buildings and their locations. ;)

I’m thinking mid-19th c, so Victorian rather than Georgian, perhaps. You may find a site or two about British transferware scenes and find the name of that pattern. I don’t think it’s a mosque, but a general Arabian or Indian structure. I see a boat and some pointy mountains (pyramids?) in the background. As Owned said, not much value, especially in its present condition, but might be an extra dollar or two if it’s a rare pattern.

The people involved in creating these scenes were more interested in "exotic" than "accurate".
