Because of the clasp I catalogued it internally as 'Victorian paste' and didn't think about it since.
Can you believe it took me a whole year, till yesterday when it all of a sudden dawned on me this is in fact a converted Georgian button? :wideyed:
I bought the Georgian Portugese flower head brooch (its already posted somewhere here)only a few weeks prior to it
I went through this marvelous book (Georgian Jewellery) numerous times without noticing.
Happy with my new -to me!- Georgian piece!
It must sometimes be easy to have a better working brain at hand. ;)

What a nice example. I would not have known it was Georgian! Really beautiful.

I've had a few times too where something in my stash and right under my nose turned out to be something surprising and better. Love when that happens.

Thank you for sharing. Another thing to keep an eye out for. I remember your thread on the larger brooch shown.

A beauty, again! Well done, again!:joyful:
Those buttons are cute baubles, often repurposed in later times. The ones with openwork outer can be used as earrings without alteration with changeable hooks;)

Any Jewelry, the exception of this dirt cheap rule is my addition to Flemish jewelry unfortunately.
But even then, cheap is way more fulfilling than paying up for something

Online bargain purchases always amaze me-valuable items for all the world to see & bid,& nobody but Dessert ponies up the pennies ! PLUS you avoid the gas & obnoxious elbow poking covid crowds-superbly done.

So true. Borders are artificial things anyway, and in this part of the world people migrated a lot, so we're all related in some way.

And, we in the Low Countries are said to all have a common ancestor: Charlemagne.
Busy man, how he ever found time to rule a country is a mystery. Of course he kept moving his seat of government, 'going places and meeting people'.;)

I do believe that’s black dot paste, too.

One more thing we Yanks never got, unless someone wore one over on a liner or an airplane - Georgian button pins.
