Does anyone know of a resource that I could look up the value of this particular piece at? Thank you in advance. 45621894_2176459932566355_7792859275419713536_n.jpg 45555483_491114354742454_1341476624805134336_n.jpg 45576469_2124095527842665_1208155862070198272_n.jpg 45560796_304774090126028_1131059313616355328_n.jpg Th

Well, that is the problem, they are asking from 100 to 500 on ebay, just wanting to find a fair, solid price.

Found his marks on Wikipedia. Strange this is it has two marks, one is supposed to date from 1910-25, and the other is supposed to date from 1930 to 39 for engravings. Does engravings mean for non-jewelry items?

Thank you. It is the same image on the Wikipedia site. So I guess I go with the newer
    mark.

The problem with the Wiki entry is the footnotes, not the marks themselves.

Asking price can be nothing more than idiots, thinking they have the Holly Grail(I have done this myself) ;). Placing an untested or guessing price, might sell someday if you have a year or two, to wait.

IMHO, After searching similar items, scroll down and on the left, click on “Sold Items” under the “Show Only” area. This will tell you exactly what people are paying these days. These are undeniable facts!

At that point your only decision will be, “is your item rarer, better quality or condition, to demand more. If it is, you’re definitely justified raising your price. If you dont want to sell within the current buying price, you’re better off holding it till demand increases.

    Just my 2¢

Thank you mmarco102. One similar to mine sold for $100 so that helps a lot.

One added note: better to average a few sales, as sometimes people that don’t do their due diligence, just give thing away at ridiculous lower prices. Not saying the one that sold did that, just adding info.

    Good luck & prosperity :)

If I'm seeing it right, it looks like the clasp is a replacement, that will drop the value a little :(

As my wife is a collector of GJ jewellery, I give you my opinion, I sell and buy some of them, the important + on value are, the condition, here it's scratched as a used brooch of his time, + at least 20% with the original box, the buy it now is for the fools if you hope to know a selling price with that.
It seems in original condition, just need a cleaning and repolishing by a profesional, in € I think you can find the same for 300€ in auction, and more than 500€ by a reseller reconditionned and boxed, please if you're not specialised don't try to clean or polish it yourself, just use a cleaning silver tissue and rinse with soap and clear water after cleaning.

For an example of a price for "everybody" without collectors, I found this one, condition is too much repolished and it's on sale certainly for/since a long time, people doesn't give such money for something out of fashion, but they can found a pidgeon as we say in french language.
It's a very specialised market as all design items, people doesn't pay a lot for things(as they see them) they can found at their general store jeweller for less than 100$-

Lecollectionneur, so I am wrong about the safety clasp being a replacement? I was expecting to see a trombone clasp, but maybe they didn’t always use them. I was also thinking it is a replacement by the look of the area around the clasp.

But I am not an expert and happily bow to a greater authority :shame:

Should we be taking the specific Jensen marks on each brooch into account when assessing value? My impression is that his popular designs in jewelry were produced over a range of years - maybe even decades. Is this true @Lecollectionneur ? Jaime's brooch has the GJ mark (used 1910-1925) and the raised letters Georg Jensen (used 1915-1927). The one Lucille just posted from Etsy has the incuse lettering Georg Jensen (used 1945 and on.) Would this "age factor" affect value significantly or not?

Many Jensen designs were produced for decades. One could expect variations over time. The 1918 264A grape bowl is still being made a hundred years later.

    Hi,
I had friends In Denmark that gave me a set of Jensen silverware from 1925. It was a wedding present to their parents. I loved that set for 18 years. When the daughter of my friends got married, I gave her the set back as a wedding present.
Everyone was so weepy. My friends did not want it since it was "too fancy" but their daughter just went wild.

A friend was thinking of ditching her old charm bracelets. I think I have her convinced to hold onto them for her daughter. If you've lived with something forever it can wind up as "that old thing, who wants that any more". Meanwhile, tell the story to another generation and it's a treasure.

As for the OP's pin, I wouldn't expect it to sell for crazy money; I'd put it up for auction with a minimum you can live with. If it makes more, bonus. If not, oh well.
