hi folks

found this is a charity shop a couple of weeks ago, was only a pound as the clasp wasn't working. all i had to do was straighten a bar on the clasp so it fitted in the slot, and open up the connecting part a bit wider

was gonna sell it today, but luckily google imaged the mark before hand

thinking i should add a safety chain before sale now

its marked 1/5 rolled gold, is that a higher percentage than most rolled gold ?

theres hardly any wear to the gold on the inner which is what i usually find on vintage rolled gold, that turns your wrist green

any thoughts or info appreciated

The seller seems to be confused.
The mark is not a Georg Jensen mark I know, and it is unlikely that a Danish firm would have Ltd added to its name, because 'Limited' is not a Danish term.

i would have thought it would have a bit more of an interesting look if it were, where as its quite plain

Georg Jensen did make different styles, but they were more imaginative and Danish looking than these bangles. I think these are by a UK firm.

 

George Jensen according to this. If it were mine, I'd recommend that buyer add guard chain, given many have a favorite jeweler.

Overhere we only get the Danish Jensen marks, but we are a much smaller market, of course.

i can see the confusion though, as they look particularly english, and the mark looks english, who knew

 

I’ve got one of these and I agree it does look British. I’ve never found conclusive proof that it’s actually Georg Jensen. Yes, I know the 925 website says that, but that’s the only place I ever found it. It looks way more like rolled gold sixties stuff.

 

I think a second confirmation would be helpful. 1st Dibs has a number of George Jensen Ltd. pieces. You can review marks here.

Georg Jensen opened their first London storefront over a century ago, their registered sponsor mark, in varied forms, for gold and silver, is as shown on 925-1000 and silvermakersmarks, 'GJLD'. It's not uncommon to find it on properly hallmarked gold and silver sold in their shops, whether imported Danish Jensen-made pieces or English-made items - doesn't seem at all unlikely that they would alter the stamp with the 'T' on English rolled gold pieces.

so rolled gold probably wouldn't have to
