So, bought a storage unit recently that is chock full of ceramics. A topic I know nothing about. My question is, are most ceramics that are of any value marked somewhere with a brand name? There are some very cool vintage ceramic or porcelain plates in there that are Christmas-themed, however there is no marking on them. It also appears that the person made a lot of ceramic items. So as I am sifting through everything, I am getting a little overwhelmed as to what is of any value that I can sell, and what just needs to going to donate bin.

It would be better if you posted some photographs of both the front and the back of a few plates. Not all brands are marked but the bottoms can be a clue as to who made it. Many unidentified pieces will sell if the designs are desirable. When you upload the photographs, make sure to click on "Full Image".

I agree, not everything is marked. When you show photos make sure to show the bottoms, marked or not :shame:

Any value here or someone's hobby? A lot of the stuff is marked w a date or someone's name, or Bettys Mud Hut.

There may be slight interest in well done, old hobbyist pieces.

These appear, to me, to be of most interest at the local shooting range

Thanks Mill cove and Ineedhelp.....I actually *think* I might keep the poinsettia one...kinda like it. I listed the other 3 (christmas ones) for $20. We'll see.

I've come up with a very useful term for these hobby pieces... grandmajolica. Feel free to use it, I would be honored. I cringe when I look back on some of the "creations" I've subjected my family to over the years.
