Furniture Hardware ID help - England

Discussion in 'Furniture' started by vintagedownsouth, Feb 17, 2016.

  1. Howdy everyone - I found a metal furniture knob (copper or brass?) that has a mark and says "Made in England." The mark is a circle with "np" in it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like plated pot metal circa 1930.

  3. Brad - Are you familiar with the mark? I have never seen it and have yet to find it on the internet.

No, have not seen it before or, if I have, did not pay much attention. Lots of makers of such things are lost to history and it doesn't matter much who made them, unless I guess you are trying to match them.

POssibly later. I had identical drawer handles on a chest of drawers as a small girl, and they were bought new by Pa. 1950s ish.

That large on a chest of drawers? Based on the size of my hand, this would put these at about 3" diameter. I could see a large pull like this on a buffet or server on in to the 50s for sure. English furniture always throws me a bit as to style vs. age. Some styles seem to have persisted longer over there.

Yup. It was a piece of utility furniture: two drawers above, cupboard below. Pa painted it white and put new handles on it.

    Not my photo:
