Wondering if I’ve assessed this about right?
French- I think that’s a tiny boars head so silver and post 1838
    Early Victorian?
    c1” x 3/4”
Does the twin prong narrow down a date? I’ve looked at lots of sites and that doesn’t seem to be mentioned.
    Thanks for looking :)

It's not going to be much later than 1838, they were going out of fashion somewhat.

KSW knows her stamps-i would've guessed abt a 100 other things before a 'boar head'. Respectfully to all-that's why Joolies are some of the smartest damned folks on the Forum.I'd gone cross-eyed & brain-dead studying as hard as these gals-it blows my tiny mind.

Awfully nice metal work, in several details, for 'paste'.
What, exactly, does that term define?

Could it be a small belt buckle? Does the double prong move back and forth?

The dealer missed it!, I do have to admit to only finding it once I got home, I thought it was part of the pin assembly. I only know about the boars head from the lovely people on here and that cartouche is fairly recognisable even though the boar itself is a bit smushed.
No, sheer fluke that I knew this one. I’m getting better but WAY off the likes of @Ownedbybear and @DragonflyWink and many others who are amazing.
Yes it does move, could be a small decorative belt buckle, it’s crying out to be worn!.

I am awful with marks, never seem to see anything :( Respect to the folks here who are able to ID every piece found.
And the stuff usually found here is not that common in the Western parts of the world so I have hard time to ID. But I keep trying :)

Looking at all the photos, I can't see how it would fit on a shoe. Actually, I can't even figure out how it would work as a belt buckle. Given its age, maybe there's an old way of using it with some clothing, shawl or scarf I'm not familiar with. Things that make you go Hmm . . .

Shoe buckles are always curved. They fit from side to side over the top of the foot. And given they need to hold the shoe, two prongs are typical.

These are women's but men wore them as well.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

This one is so small... c1” x 3/4”, quoting the original post.
Could it be for a child's shoe? Or was that small size typical for an adult shoe buckle?

It could be either. Some adult shoes had small buckles.
